STUDIO
From his studio in the foothills of North Carolina, Kevin Calhoun paints abstract forms from the inner mind.
His process often utilizes sketches on paper as a rough framework before his emotive approach veers into unknown territory, to gripping effect.

Kevin Calhoun grew up on his grandparents’ tobacco farm in Dobson, NC. His earliest memories recall the discovery of fascinating objects and sculptures created in secret by his grandfather in a shed on the property– his first encounter with outsider art. Similarly, Calhoun’s creative journey has progressed on an arc unaltered by formal training. His style of artmaking has become singular.
